Age 50 vs 40. The beginning of better second half or miserable halves: Aging should be graceful. It doesn’t matter whether you are turning 50 years or 40 years. The moment you turn 40 years 0r 50 years, you have to understand that your age is not just a number but a new decade that has to come with new lessons and challenges that you must overcome for you to get to the next level. Pleasant or not it doesn’t matter, every decade God gives you on this earth is a time to grow up to the next decade. Meaning, you are still growing even in your 50s!
The reason I chose to write this article is that most people when they get to 50 years or even 40 years, stop dreaming and start dwindling back to their 30s. Instead of becoming better, they stop reasoning and start doing things that could potentially make the rest of their lives (the second half of their lives) better or miserable. Here is Age 50 vs 40 by comparison.

How do you feel at Age 50 vs 40? When you get to 50 years of age, irrespective of your gender, you begin to appreciate life more, and your thinking changes. The way you approach life problems is completely different from 40-year-olds who are still trying to figure out if they have actually reached their true purpose in life. 50-year-olds have come to terms with whatever life throws at them. They are more content with what they own because they know they can’t change much but they focus more on correcting, directing, and being useful to people who are looking up to them.
Most people at this age also confess that life can be miserable especially if you had no stable job during your previous years. This is a reason why most couples at this age rely mostly on their children for upkeep. A better lesson in investing in your children at a tender age.
On the other hand, 40-year-olds have no balance in life. They are still in denial about their age. They are not sure that time has really run out and that they are aging. This is a reason why most 40-year-olds are too busy making something out of the past. 40-year-olds focus on correcting the past and bringing the past into their personal lives while 50-year-olds have moved on and are shaping the future with the lessons they have learned to the next generation.
When you get to your 50s, you should focus more on taking care of yourself than worrying about life. Accept everything that is happening to your life now simply because life is a lesson and we learn as we age. So instead of lamenting about how bad your life is or how things didn’t work out the way you wished, focus more on your peace of mind and your health.
50 years of age is a bridge between being wise enough to get to your 60s or miserable enough not to reach your 60s. Accept your life and use your wisdom to correct, and inspire the future generation, and once you get to your 60s you enjoy the fruits of your wisdom and courage. We all age. It doesn’t matter how slow or fast, but we all age and life does get better after 50 if we make the right decisions. However, how you respond matters more than the age itself.
Depending on how you perceive it, 40s to some people can be full of turmoil just enough to be considered a midlife crisis. Many people lose focus when they get to their 40s. This is the age men and women are trying to make up for the time they lost while chasing their careers. They feel like they need to explore more or have some fun before their wrinkles start getting out of control. Poor decision-making and bad judgment are what most people at the age of 40 suffer from.
Some men and women make moves that make them regret the rest of their lives. Moves that can cost them their families or even marriages! Some people divorce at this age or marry someone else at this age or worse, invest in robust businesses that make them poor eventually.
A bad decision in your 30s can be corrected in your 40s because you still have the energy and the will to move up and down correcting your past mistakes. However, a bad decision in your 40s could cost you dearly. At 40 years of age, we want to have fun but most times the fun is short-lived and the mistakes you make at this age can make you miserable in your 50s.
